Series SV100 Zero-Sightline Aluminum Casement and Awning Vents
The Boyd Series SV100 is a thermally broken zero-sightline vent for commercial storefront and curtain-wall framing, available as either a side-hinged casement project-out configuration or a top-hinged awning project-out configuration. Designed for ease of installation and minimal sightlines, the SV100 is an excellent solution for architects and designers who want great ventilation without sacrificing thermal performance or the clean appearance of the surrounding glass and aluminum framing.
The AAMA-tested SV100 features a nominal 3.188" frame depth, a structural thermal barrier, 1" glazing, miter-cut and crimped corners, and published U-factors as low as 0.40. It is engineered for seamless integration with Boyd storefront and curtain-wall systems and can also be coordinated with most other manufacturers' storefront or curtain-wall framing. A unique removable glazing bead permits either a traditional stop reveal or a sealant reveal, while screens and custom anodized or painted finishes support the performance and aesthetic needs of the project.

When to Use the Series SV100 Zero-Sightline Vent
Storefront or curtain-wall elevations requiring operable ventilation without sacrificing minimal sightlines or the appearance of the surrounding framing.
Projects requiring either a top-hinged awning project-out vent or a side-hinged casement project-out vent within the same SV100 platform.
Commercial projects requiring a thermally broken vent with published U-factors as low as 0.40 and 1" glazing.
Boyd storefront or curtain-wall projects requiring coordinated vent details, glazing, finishes, screens, and installation support.
Projects using another manufacturer's storefront or curtain-wall framing where the opening, glazing pocket, frame interface, and installation details can be coordinated.
Designs requiring either a visible glazing-stop reveal or a clean sealant-reveal appearance using the removable glazing bead.
Choosing an SV100 Awning or Casement Configuration
Both configurations project outward. Select the hinge orientation, vent proportions, operating hardware, screens, and clearance requirements that best fit the storefront or curtain-wall elevation.
| SV100 Configuration | Review This Configuration For |
|---|---|
| SV100 Awning Project-Out Vent | Top-hinged openings where the bottom of the vent projects outward and a horizontal vent format is preferred. |
| SV100 Casement Project-Out Vent | Side-hinged openings where a vertical vent format, specified handing, and lateral outward-swing clearance are preferred. |

Common Series SV100 Coordination Items
Host framing system: Identify the storefront or curtain-wall manufacturer, series, system depth, glazing pocket, pressure plate or cap condition, and surrounding mullion details.
Operating configuration: Confirm awning versus casement operation, hinge orientation, casement handing, opening angle, operator location, hardware, screens, and maintenance access.
Exterior clearance: Check adjacent glass, framing, sunshades, fins, walls, railings, walkways, landscaping, and other obstructions within the outward-opening path.
Glazing and reveal: Confirm the complete 1" glass makeup, factory-glazed or open-for-glazing path, silicone or bead glazing, removable-bead use, stop reveal, sealant reveal, gaskets, spacers, and sealants.
Thermal performance: Provide center-of-glass performance, vent dimensions, vision-area percentage, glazing method, whole-system U-factor target, and condensation requirements for project-specific review.
Finish matching: Coordinate the SV100 finish with the surrounding framing, glass coatings, adjacent metals, approved samples, and field-applied sealants.
Installation: Verify vent dimensions, opening preparation, attachment, support, perimeter conditions, drainage, flashing, sealants, field glazing, and adjustment requirements before release.
